The wait is over. The billboards are up, the jingles are buzzing across the airwaves of Wazobia, Cool FM, Nigeria Info FM, Max Fm, and The Beat FM, and the path is finally clear. We are proud to unveil the official AAF 2026 Roadmap, a six-day journey designed to move the African creative industry from the fringes to the global center stage. Whether you are a creator, a tech enthusiast, or a lover of pure, unadulterated “alternative” culture, this is your guide to navigating the Abuja Alternate Festival.

The Digital Sessions (March 16th – 18th)

Location: X Spaces (@dalternatefest)

Our journey begins in the virtual realm. We believe that talent is the baseline, but knowledge is the currency. For the first three days, we are hosting high-impact Industry Alchemy sessions on X Spaces:

Introduction to AAF: The first day of the festival features a deep dive into the “Alternate” mindset and the future of the  creative economy, Momoh Pius Oshogwemoh (MC Bluetooth CCFR) Media Executive | Creative Strategist | Cultural Architect (Curator and convener of The Abuja Alternate Festival) will give a brief on what the Abuja Alternate Festival is all about. Whether he is navigating the legalities of IP for independent artists or producing global-scale cultural festivals, Mc Bluetooth ccfr remains a relentless advocate for the “Alternate” movement, scaling African creativity from local stages to a global audience of millions.

Intellectual Property (IP) Session: Before your first release, Facilitated by Olaoluwa Idowu – A Legal Associate with extensive experience in Entertainment Law, Intellectual Property, and Contract Negotiation, and will be a discussion about Intellectual Property and the legal pitfalls in the Nigerian music ecosystem. The session is a window into the legal checklist every artist must clear before hitting ‘upload.’ We want to highlight contract basics, split sheets, and IP protection.

Artiste Development: “The Blueprint of Artist Development’’ -Facilitated by Nelson Adepioyi , a Music business Analyst, strategist, and music Executive, and  author of the book “Artists Development-moving from Good to valuable” discusses the area of artist development, the life cycle of and artist and how these changes affect the growth and career trajectory.

In the modern music ecosystem, “talent” is the baseline, but “value” is the currency. In this session, led by Nelson Adapioyi, the focus moves beyond the surface-level aesthetics of stardom to address the structural engineering required to build a sustainable career. Drawing from the principles of his book, “Artist Development: Moving from Good to Valuable,” Nelson will deconstruct how an artist transitions from being a “talented creator” to becoming a “valuable asset” that the global market can invest in, partner with, and sustain.

In the second part of the conversation we take a look at the use of technology with major focus on the innovation by Zoho cooperation called Zoho back stage as we understand how artist can take advantage of this innovation in the music ecosystem, The Use of Tech in Music: facilitated by Onyekachi Oparah, a Consultant & Strategic Alliance Manager at Zoho Corporation for West Africa. will Explore how innovations like Zoho Backstage are empowering independent artists to own their data and scale their brands, to manage global success and engagement, scale tours and data ownership with corporate precision.

The roadmap leads us to the heart of Abuja’s central area. At Café One, a modern co-working café and lifestyle hub located in the Central Business District designed as a “work-and-sip” destination, will blend the comfort of a café with the functionality of a professional workspace, and create an environment where entrepreneurs, creative, and professionals can work, connect, and collaborate will host our most interactive session yet: Music vs. Radio. This is where the “Gatekeepers” meet the “Creators.” It’s an open forum to discuss airplay, media strategy, and how to get your sound heard by the millions who tune in to our media partners across the globe.
